You think we know how the fairy tales go? Think again. Come join ACT ONE Theatre’s High School program as we venture deep Into the Woods, where “happily ever after” takes a detour.
As a childless baker and his wife try to start a family, they discover a host of fairy tale characters seeking the fulfillment of their own wishes and dreams. Princes and princesses trying to find love; a witch trying to reclaim youth and beauty; and families struggling to put food on the table. As they venture deeper into the woods, they discover the realities of life, as well as its consequences. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… a rare modern classic.
This enchanting and touching Tony Award-winning book and score remind us that life is an unpredictable journey, filled with twists and turns, and that no one is alone.
