For this performance of Unyielding Now, Texture will be presenting Timbre, choreographed by Artistic Director Alan Obuzor. Timbre is a 37-minute piece that fuses together elements of contemporary dance, modern dance, house dance, and pointe work. Timbre has undertones of exploring people’s differences and similarities, while abstractly acknowledging human similarities are more unifying and more consequential than any differences that we may have. Unyielding Now will also premier Alan’s latest work, Dorain which is an abstract contemporary ballet piece for three dancers, set to the music of Agnes Obel.
Texture is excited to present With Alacrity… created by guest choreographer Nicole Haskins. Originally created for Amy Seiwert’s Imagery in San Francisco, Nicole’s inspiration for the piece came from the desire to create something that celebrated joy and togetherness and all that life can offer.
Also on this program is a new work by Texture Resident Dancer Madeline Kendall. For Unyielding Now, she has created Selcouth, a piece that draws inspiration from the ocean, marine life, and its varied diversity and vibrancy. Madeline has a strong, dynamic presence on stage, plus a thoughtful, detailed eye for creating visual art, which she brings to all her creations and is showcased in her choreography.
Join us to experience the energy and power of dynamic movement by our incredible artists! Unyielding Now is on stage September 22-24!
