Kente Arts Alliance presents The Pharoah Sanders Tribute Band
Pharoah Sanders born in Arkansas at the height of the Jim Crow era, was one of the last icons of his generation when he died, September 24, 2022. Over a career that spanned fifty years, Pharaoh recorded some of the most revered albums in jazz history.
Azar Lawrence has assembled a stellar group of musicians who have all played with Sanders and have come together as the Pharoah Sanders Tribute Band: Azar Lawrence, sax – NEA Jazz Master, Billy Hart, drums – George Cables, piano – Nat Reeves, bass – Isaiah Collier, sax.
