Kente Arts Alliance presents The African Rhythms Alumni Quintet: A Tribute to Randy Weston
When Randy Weston passed away at 92, he left an enduring mark on the jazz world. Weston enjoyed many accolades in the last chapter of his life including being named an NEA Jazz Master and receiving the prestigious Doris Duke Performing Artist Award.
He was a noted composer, a distinctive pianist, and a towering figure over the course of a 70-year career.
The Quintet will be led by saxophonist and flutist T.K. Blue. He will be joined by bassist Alex Blake, master percussionist Chief Baba Neil Clarke, trombonist Frank Lacy and pianist Sharp Radway.
