Personal & Powerful

More details to come

Get lost in an artistic exploration of human connection and complex social issues in Texture’s upcoming performances of “Personal & Powerful”!

The show will feature a new work by guest choreographer Shana Simmons, which will highlight the impact of societal “soap boxes” and the loss of personal connection that exists when people continue to talk at one another, rather than having a visceral human exchange. Texture dancer Alexandra Tiso will present her new piece, “Woman,” inspired by the ability of women to persevere and the strength of a woman’s heart, while Kelsey Bartman and Madeline Kendall create a neoclassical collaboration, influenced by the tensions that can arise between individuals when insecurity blinds us from seeing each other’s true intentions. Closing out the performance will be the return of Alan Obuzor’s introspective work, “Unchanging Change”, which originally premiered in 2014. The piece explores how people are simultaneously connected yet also separate from each other, and features music by Max Richter, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and spoken-word poet Andrea Gibson.
