WQED: Voice of the Arts: New Hazlett Theater – Birthday at Tiffany’s

The first show in New Hazlett Theater’s Community Supported Artist series is Christine CMC Bethea’s Birthday at Tiffany’s!

Set in 1980s Homewood, the play follows a middle-class couple who will do anything to keep their 7-year-old’s birthday on track—even if it means playing nice with the impossible. QED’s Emily Brunner spoke with Christine CMC Bethea, Mils James, and Tanika Harris about the play. Christine explained the inspiration behind the play, while Tanika discussed her character, Elaine. Mils talked about choreographing the play, and the three related the importance of community–both in the story and in the Pittsburgh area.

You can see Birthday at Tiffany’s at the New Hazlett Theater on Thursday, November 20th at 7:30pm and Friday November 21st at 10:00am and 7:30pm.

Check out New Hazlett Theater’s website for more information and to buy tickets.
