New Hazlett Theater rings in the holidays with a new kind of ‘Sounds of the Season’
(Pittsburgh, PA) November 7, 2025— The New Hazlett Theater invites the community to celebrate the holiday season with Sounds of the Season, an enchanting evening of diverse holiday music featuring jazz, soul, and global rhythms. The event takes place on December 13 at 7:30 PM.
Tickets are available for $45, with group discounts for parties of five or more, making it a perfect outing for families, friends, youth groups, faith communities, and workplace celebrations. The concert will showcase some of Pittsburgh’s most celebrated artists including Dr. Zuly Inirio, Hugo Cruz & Caminos, and Dr. Kendra Ross & Brendan Williams. Attendees can expect a lively atmosphere filled with soaring vocals, soulful sounds, and big-band energy, fostering a sense of community and holiday cheer for all ages.

Join us for a truly special evening where Pittsburgh’s most incredible local voices shine brightly, sharing the stage and gifting us with their talents,” New Hazlett Theater Artistic Producer Melissa Cardello-Linton says.
To kick off the festivities in style, patrons are encouraged to attend the VIP Holiday Cheer Hour from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Tickets are pay what moves you, starting at $75-$150. Guests will enjoy complimentary holiday-themed cocktails, mocktails, and hors d’oeuvres, along with exclusive early access to the theater, live DJ music, and mingling in a warm, festive setting.

Meet the Artists

Dr. Zuly Inirio is an Afro-Latina Dominican-American soprano, scholar, and advocate redefining classical music through equity and cultural representation. As founder of the Afro-Latinx Song & Opera Project and Executive Director of Instituto Cimarrón, she uplifts historically excluded voices in the arts. Her performances and research have reached audiences from Carnegie Hall to international stages, inspiring transformation across communities. Through her artistry and leadership, Dr. Inirio bridges culture, healing, and social justice to create lasting impact.

Hugo Alexander Cruz Machado is a Cuban-born, award-winning, international drummer and composer who has performed in South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, and the United States.
Hugo is the leader of the group Caminos, who have made appearances at Pittonkatonk music festival, the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival 2019, Fábrica de Artes in Havana, Cuba, First Night Pittsburgh 2020, City of Asylum, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust events, The Frick Museum, Con Alma, Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, Carnegie Music Hall Oakland, and Pittsburgh PlayHouse.

Kendra Janelle Ross, PhD is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and cultural worker whose music lives where soul meets liberation and justice. Blending gospel, jazz, rock, blues, folk, and R&B, her debut album New Voice earned SoulTracks.com’s New Artist of the Year. She’s shared stages with Gregory Porter, Lalah Hathaway, and Babyface, and is now completing This Womanist Work, a powerful new collaborative EP celebrating Black women’s stories through song and sisterhood.

Brendan Williams is a proud native of Pittsburgh, born in the Historic Hill District. Brendan is the proud owner and CEO of B. Classy Styling LLC and Classy Living Interiors, which he started in 2009. His work has been published in several magazines in Pittsburgh and in the Atlanta area. He is also a vocalist, known not just by his local community but nationally and internationally, having the opportunity to sing background for various gospel and R&B recording artists, and has even made appearances in Rome at the Vatican.
