Kente Arts Alliance presents: The Dwayne Dolphin All Stars
Dwayne Dolphin is a jazz and funk bassist who has assembled an All Star group of musicians.
Dwayne has been an adjunct faculty member in Duquesne University’s Jazz Performance Department and currently leads his own band, the Dwayne Dolphin Fo’ Tet, in addition to being a mainstay in Roger Humphries RH Factor.
The group will include:
Orrin Evans, piano – Evans has become the model of a fiercely independent artist who pushes the envelop in all directions.
Jeff “Tain” Watts, drums – Watts has won Grammy awards such as Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Best Large Jazz Ensemble and Best Opera Recording. He has worked with numerous notable musicians throughout his career, including Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men and Elton John.
Fred Wesley, trombone – During the 1960s and 1970s, Wesley was a pivotal member of James Brown’s bands, playing trombone on many hit recordings including, “Say it Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud, Mother Popcorn and Hot Pants”, and was a pivotal member of James Brown’s bands.
