Texture Contemporary Ballet presents: Divergence
Texture Contemporary Ballet launches the 2026-27 season with Divergence, a dynamic program exploring the beauty of contrast, conflict, and connection.
Artistic Director Alan Obuzor’s new work, From Above, fuses traditional orchestra and modern electronic elements, moving through a striking range of sonic landscapes. Audiences are carried from an atmosphere of dark, unsettled tension into a hypnotic minimalist techno pulse that builds toward immense emotional crescendos—creating a world that feels both infinitely vast and intensely internal.
Guest choreographer Deanna Stanton presents the world premiere of Inner Voices, which explores the space between self-perception and truth—the tension between the stories we tell ourselves and the realities that lie beneath them. Rather than examining conflict between different people, the work delves into the divergences that exist within a single individual.
Abandonment of Division in the Pursuit of Hope, byResident Choreographer Madeline Kendall Schreiber, explores the growth of division within our society and the collective helplessness it can bring. This powerful new work contrasts a stark lack of compassion with a definitive shift toward hope, resilience, love, and perseverance. Set to a rich musical tapestry of acoustic, electric, and atmospheric instrumentation, the piece culminates in a powerful ballad full of soul and purpose.
