You Can Call Me Al
Presented by New Hazlett Theater as part of Season 6 CSA
Thu-Fri, February 7-8
How do we confront the things that scare us the most when our memories begin to fail us? You Can Call Me Al is a long-form story about growing up, getting gay, coming out, living with mental illness, and uncovering family secrets. Through multiple artistic mediums, they will generate catharsis and let go of shame, bringing the audience into a place of learning simultaneously with the performer as we uncover what it means to be fully queer and fully vulnerable.
As an artist and educator based in Pittsburgh, they embrace the complexity of the queer identity to create new and engaging ways to explore LGBTQIA life within local communities. Ali currently serves as the Artistic Program Director at Dreams of Hope and previously as the Education & Outreach Director and the Interim Artistic Director of About Face Theatre Company.
