How do we confront the things that scare us the most when our memories begin to fail us? You Can Call Me Al is a long-form story about growing up, getting gay, coming out, living with mental illness, and uncovering family secrets. By letting go of shame, they reveal what it means to be fully queer and fully vulnerable.
As an artist and educator based in Pittsburgh, Ali embraces the complexity of the queer identity to create new and engaging ways to explore LGBTQIA life within local communities. They currently serves as the Artistic Program Director at Dreams of Hope and previously as the Education & Outreach Director and the Interim Artistic Director of About Face Theatre Company.
